MARINE ENGINE PROTECTION, ENERGY, FUEL AND MAINTENACE COST SAVING
Welcome to QMI lines of product and its usage benefits for your ships and Industrial equipment.

QMI is recognized across the globe as a leader in PTFE Industrial Coating & Lubrication.

An introduction…

QMI is recognized by specialist around the world as a pioneer in the research, development and production of high-performance greases, industrial lubricants, treatments, coating and sealants for more than twenty years. Our specialty products are without equal, and we’re proud to count many Fortune 500 Companies among our satisfied customers. Overseas, you’ll find QMI delivering high-performance lubrication to companies such as Heinz (Dublin), the Norwegian Railway Company (Oslo), Norway Ships & tankers and Marine, NOL (Singapore), ST Marine (Singapore), PSA ships, Power Plants (Indonesia) the Volta River Authority (Ghana), Pequiven Oil Refinery (Venezuela) and the Liaoyang Thermal Power Plant (China). The list goes on and on.

In fact, in most cases a single application of QMI reduces heat, friction, wear and noise. From inception to production to distribution and beyond – QMI products are designed to meet and exceed the most demanding requirements of industrial and Marine engine maintenance. Immediate benefits of QMI include reduced energy consumption, reduce fuel consumption, reduction in wear and tear and improved performance. Less maintenance, extended oil life, overhaul periods extended without worries, less downtime and extended equipment life are just a few more reasons you’ll appreciate QMI.

Put simply, QMI works and it is Safe

Yes, these are strong product claims. And they’re true. We guarantee it. We’d like the opportunity to prove these claims to you further!

We’re trying to keep this message short – only you can decide the extent of the benefits applicable to your marine equipment and trade. But we promise, if you’re interested in learning more about QMI’s industry-tested and industry-proven line of technology, we’re ready to discuss further with you and answer any questions you may have. We have with us, real world test data reports and documents to assure you of our product efficiency and safety.

Throughout history, friction, corrosion, oxidation and neglect have been major causes of wear and deterioration of our machinery. Today’s machinery are increasingly
smaller, higher revving and harder working. Demands of increased fuel and energy economy, pollution controls devices, and higher operating temperatures and longer operating hours put strain and wear on today’s machinery much greater than larger machinery in the past. Even with improved oils, the result is earlier lubrication and component breakdown.

In the maritime sector, presently the low-speed cross-head diesel engine remains the most fuel efficient among other types of power installations for marine application. Significant increases in specific power rates, mean effective pressure, combustion pressure/temperature and fuel efficiency has been achieved in these diesel engines over the last decade. But excessive piston ring wears, sticking and breaking are the common problems of various types of low-speed engines in which respective improvements are needed. Therefore we recommend QMI treatment for the long-stroke engine too. The engine design changes, as well as the use of poorest quality fuels, have increased the severity of engine operating conditions. New oils of high thermal stability, increased base number and viscosity at high temperatures and increased EP/antiwear properties are therefore required. As you know, marine low-speed engines burn high viscosity, density and sulfur content fuel oils which are corrosives. To neutralize the harmful effect of sulfur content, carbon residue and asphaltenes on cylinder/piston ring wear and carbon deposit formation, expert recommended the high total base number (TBN) oils of high alkalinity/detergent and antiwear property to used for cylinder lubrication. As such, QMI PTFE liner coating should be a better solution to these problems.

SAE studies indicate that most wear takes place when machine is first started, before the oil can circulate and lubricate properly.

QMI has more to offer than the best oils on the market can give.

Our technology is PTFE treatment using QMI specialized agents to fuse PTFE films of coating protection along the metal to metal friction surfaces.

Tested and Proven

A reputable laboratory tested QMI utilizing ASTM’s Sequence IIIE. This test shows camshaft lobe and valve lifter wear rates, and lubricant performance factors such as sludge, varnish and carbon deposits and changed viscosity. With QMI, camshaft lobe and valve lifter wear was reduced 88% over the average performance of the reference oil required by the U.S. Army for this type of test. The QMI test also passed all lubricant performance requirements. (A copy of the test is available upon request.)
For many years QMI industrial customers have conducted independent QMI tests, resulting in documentation of all QMI benefits. Before and after oil analysis tests (the measuring of wear metals in used engine oil) show up to 90% reduction in wear metals after treatment. Less wear metal means longer engine life etc.
In Norway, more than 200 ships have benefited using QMI treatment with outstanding results from their test analysis since the last 13 years. Industrial Power plants has engines that increases kWh from 9 to 16% after QMI treatment coating.

Warranties

QMI treatment does not void new engine warranties, as verified by letters from all major U.S. and many foreign engine manufacturers. Engine manufacturers are required to adhere to current API standards. QMI treatment exceeds API requirements by a wide margin, and therefore will not void warranties.

Closing

Thank you for allowing QMI to open this door into the fascinating world of PTFE.
It is our goal to provide the utmost in the benefits PTFE treatments offer, thereby helping QMI customers maintain the value of expensive Marine, fleets and equipment.
